The difference I hope to leave will be to bring people in pharmacy together and connect them in ways that continue to drive our profession forward.

As a young pharmacy student, I am well aware that I still have much to learn—in technical skills as well as conceptual ability in the pharmacy world. For this reason, I am very open to various opportunities both through the pharmacy curriculum and extracurriculars that improve the health of fellow Canadians.

I truly believe our impact can be far-reaching and long-lasting if we work to knock down barriers to women in leadership, empower all our pharmacists with the autonomy to define what meaningful work means to them, and help them develop the strategy and leadership skills to execute on their passions.

Health and innovation are my main driving forces. The more our world evolves, the more we can do to advance and improve how we deliver healthcare. I am always curious about what we can do if we could be more innovative when it comes to healthcare.

What continues to drive me is being able to continue to learn, be challenged, and make an impact on patients’ lives. Another big driver for me is my kids. I want them to grow up knowing that if you have the will and the passion to help others, then nothing’s stopping you from pursuing a career that allows you to do that.

Healthcare is ripe for innovation. Young leaders are thinking differently about their role within the healthcare system, innovating and helping to evolve patient care from a whole health perspective.

Young leaders are continuing to push the envelope for what we can do as pharmacists. Not only do they push to expand and utilize their full scope of practice, but I’m noticing more young leaders combining other fields such as technology or the pharmaceutical industry to further support pharmacy practice.

I have made it my personal mission to challenge preconceived notions about what pharmacists can and cannot do: to improve and advance health globally. No matter what their career path might be, pharmacists have the ability to influence change and contribute to healthcare.
