NEW PRODUCT: Trainers Choice sustainable GeoCell braces
Canadian sports medicine brand Trainers Choice has announced the launch of its line of braces made with new material that is said to be more sustainable.
Rather than using neoprene, the braces are made with GeoCell, a new plant-based material derived from Hevea rubber trees and manufactured by Taiwanese materials company Wellpower.
Trainers Choice says the trees have a 30-year rubber production lifespan and come from plantations certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. It is also made with recycled laminate fabrics and water-based adhesives and manufactured with the use of harmful chemicals, according to the company.
“To continue to improve our environmental impact we are moving toward sustainable materials,” Trainers Choice founder Rick Schaly said in a news release. “We want to improve our customers’ health and well-being, while contributing to the health of the planet one step at a time. These braces and supports were designed with performance, functionality, and sustainability as the focus.”
Other products that have been manufactured using GeoCell include life jackets, yoga mats, backpacks and diving suits, according to Wellpower. Trainers Choice says it is the first sports medicine brace company to use GeoCell in their products.
The new braces have launched exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart. Wrist braces retail for $33.99 and knee braces are $99.99. The company also sells elbow compression wraps for $24.99 and thumb stabilizers for $36.99
