Where’s the Diabetes- Related-Problem? Or are we the Problem?

As pharmacists we are constantly looking for the drug-related problem (DRP) in caring for people with type 2 diabetes, but what if we are part of the problem? Based on the author's real-life experience, this continuing education lesson presents a simple step-wise approach to help ensure pharmacists are always part of the solution in caring for their diabetes patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this continuing education lesson, you will be better able to:
 

  1. Identify people with type 2 diabetes in your practice who need your help.
  2. Initiate conversations with people with type 2 diabetes to proactively improve their health
    outcomes.
  3. Apply guideline-directed care to show individuals with type 2
    diabetes how you can practically (re-)start, optimize, and monitor GLP-1 RA or dual GIP/GLP-1 RA therapy.
