I love the impact that pharmacists make on public health. Even before the pandemic, pharmacists were already leaders in vaccinating people and creating access points for population in need.

You may not know all the answers right away. Learning is a lifelong process. Take the opportunities that excite and challenge you, surround yourself with leaders who inspire you and let yourself grow each day.

“Everyone deserves to be led well.” These are the words my mentor spoke to me some months ago. While I understood leadership to be important, these words helped to frame the importance of leadership in a new way for me.

COVID-19 has radically changed our healthcare landscape, impacting the way we access our healthcare professionals and how we seek advice.

Patients want to have these conversations with us, maybe it’s time that we overcome our own barriers to talking about difficult topics and treat them like the matter-of-fact issues that they are.

You can and will make a difference in people’s lives. There is an entire industry behind you supporting you, and if you keep the patient at the centre of what you do, you can never go wrong.

My vision for the profession of pharmacy is for pharmacy professionals to become an indispensable and integral part of the Canadian and global healthcare system. I truly believe that we are just scratching the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to the profession of pharmacy.
