Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario president Alex Munter spoke to a federal health committee last week, noting that last month was the busiest September on record since the Ottawa hospital opened.
Shannon Martin introduced a bill in the legislature Tuesday that would create "access zones'' of between 50 and 150 metres around schools, hospitals and other areas where healthcare is provided.
Nurses and paramedics meeting the same criteria will qualify for a payment of at least $50,000 if they commit to working in the province for at least three years.
