In her new book, Dr. Myra Rutherdale reveals that nurses in the north "often worked on their own and in conditions that were less than ideal. In order to ease patients through the often overwhelming recovery process, and reduce medication-related problems, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Illinois has begun implementing a two-phase program designed to improve communication between inpatient pharmacists and patients during their stay and after discharge.
