Quebec wants to improve access to abortion services as part of a new plan to counter what the government describes as an erosion of women’s rights around the world.
The city has been examining the issue for a while, but mayors of the affected suburbs say they only learned of the potential for a change relatively recently.
Adriana LaGrange says 33 nurse practitioners are now taking patients across the province and another 23 have been approved to practise primary care similar to a family physician.
The bill, if passed, would also require municipalities to get the health minister’s approval to apply for an exemption from the federal government to launch new supervised consumption sites.
