CMA and CFPC issue forceful statement on the state of healthcare and highlight that federal funds won't be forthcoming to many provinces until they get a plan together.

Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne said Wednesday the arrangement, which affects around 260 medications meant to treat complex, chronic or life-threatening conditions, is not in line with ‘the direction we want to see.’

On Tuesday, the AMA held a press conference raising the alarm about ‘extreme financial instability’ facing the province’s family doctors.

Tim Smith, CMA CEO since 2015, announced plans to step down from the role at the end of 2024.

I am firm in my belief that community pharmacy in Canada is part of the solution to the challenges that Canadians are facing in accessing primary care. Crippling pharmacy through the imposition of fees and limiting patient choice of healthcare provider through PPNs is something I am prepared to invest my energy and time to prevent.

Association also encourages pharmacists who are upset about the upcoming new fee to reach out to their MPs.
