Protests against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other restrictions spread Friday to Manitoba's capital, where more than two dozen large trucks and farm vehicles blocked the main entrance to the legislature grounds and one block of a nearby street.

Dr. Katharine Smart, the president of the leading association of Canadian medical professionals, says raising the international vaccination rate is the only way to prevent the rise of new COVID-19 variants that are prolonging the pandemic through an endless cycle of lockdowns and serious illness.
