The bill tabled earlier this week by Health Minister Christian Dubé would require family doctors and medical specialists to sign a contract agreeing to practise in Quebec’s public system for the five-year period or else face hefty fines
According to a Nov. 22 notice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, Dr. Gregory John Wicks admitted to practicing medicine while his registration was ‘temporarily inactive.’
The province has said the number of doctors working exclusively in the private sector has increased by 70% since 2020, and that the trend is especially notable among new doctors.
