Pharmacy professionals must complete at least three hours of this type of education annually.

As it currently stands in most provinces, physicians who are licensed to practice in one province have to go through a lengthy application process with a plethora of paperwork and pay thousands of dollars in fees in order to practice in another province.

The province is working the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC on a direct process to enable U.S.-trained doctors to become fully licensed in B.C. without the need for further assessment, examination or training.

This allows students enrolled in pharmacy tech programs and recent graduates to register with the College.

To support these amendments, the College has drafted a practice directive that sets out its expectations.

The Alberta College of Pharmacy’s new Standards for the Operation of Licensed Pharmacies makes changes to previous requirements.
