The order had been enacted earlier in the week to reduce pressure on emergency departments while Alberta Health Services worked to place some patients in other hospitals or care facilities.
The minister also directed the nursing college to develop supports for the internationally trained nurses—for example to bring their skills to Ontario standards—to allow them to practice "in a timely way.''
In addition to her sizable salary, Alberta's chief medical officer of health took home more than $227K in 'cash benefits' during a year when the province's nurses were threatening job action.
