A few years back, Ontario’s McGuinty government used the Speech from the Throne to call for generating cash by leveraging the strengths of our public healthcare system beyond our borders. So if the ORNGE air ambulance service goes global, tells the world about Ontario and makes some money that gets pumped back into our public healthcare system, wouldn’t that be a good thing?

A new pre-market evaluation pilot program for medical technologies, the MaRS Excellence in Clinical Innovation and Technology Evaluation (EXCITE) program, was announced Dec. 6. It's expected to reduce Ontario healthcare costs in the long run and get new innovative technologies to patients faster.
