LONDON, U.K. | Biotech companies are exploring alternative options to supplement their in-house research and development, says healthcare intelligence provider GlobalData in a new report. These companies are abandoning the traditional blockbuster drug model to instead pursue deals and buy their way to success, GlobalData suggests.

MONTREAL | AstraZeneca Canada and Pfizer Canada are forming a partnership with the Quebec government to create the Néomed Institute, which they describe as a new kind of life sciences research centre. A total of $100 million will be invested to establish and support the research centre over five years.
