I never thought I would take on more than an hourly paycheque as a pharmacist. Organically, I was pulled toward growing responsibilities in exciting ventures that complemented my patient care duties. Over 15 years of practising, new doors opened that led to a host of enriching activities.
More Indigenous practitioners are needed to address systemic racism, but that can’t happen without a supportive education system that also envisions them in leadership roles.
If you have an idea, something that will make life better for pharmacists, or patients, or both, explore it at all costs. You never know when your idea might change the way we practise. After all, a better future for all pharmacists is a safer future for all patients.
I am a firm believer that there are multiple solutions to solve a single problem. Like any other careers in life, you have to be passionate about what you do and finding the “why.”
