The regulatory environment in Canada, combined with the safety and effectiveness of medication abortion and the presence of strong, visible Canadian women leaders in medicine, creates an opportunity to further streamline abortion services and eventually move to a demedicalized model where mifepristone and misoprostol could be available directly from pharmacies.

When we last spoke to the team at BioPro Biologics Pharmacy in Vancouver back in 2018, they were less than a year into launching their 1600 square foot pharmacy designed for a truly collaborative care experience.

I can remember back in 1986, as a first-year medical student, walking down the hallway of Memorial University of Newfoundland and stopping to look at the announcement board.There it was – a paper flyer asking “Are you a female medical student?” Yes, I was! “Are you in financial need?” Yes, I was! “Sign up for FMWC and apply for a $1,000 scholarship.” So I did. And I got the scholarship.
