Ask the Mental Health Expert: Antidepressant combinations
With so much research trying to create antidepressants with very distinct receptor properties, is there any good reason to then prescribe a TCA with an SSRI and an SNRI, etc.? In other words, why do we see combination prescribing that in effect generalizes an otherwise selective receptor stimulant?
