Ask the Addictions Expert: Does methadone affect bone health?
Many of my patients think that long-term methadone treatment causes bone alterations. They believe they will feel joint pain when they wean off of it because of these changes. Some are hesitant to use methadone as a result, preferring other opioids instead. Is there any credence to this belief? If not, how should we counsel patients on this issue? - 8/17/2014
