University Health Network’s Toronto General Hospital is the third best hospital in the world, according to new rankings by Newsweek and Statistica. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, N.Y., came out on top, with the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio as second. Specialized hospitals, such as pediatric centres, were not included. PROMS are collected with a standardized and validated questionnaire where patients outline their functional wellbeing and quality of life, Newsweek notes. Medical experts include physicians, healthcare professionals and hospital managers. All the data is based on what was available in 2024. The rankings are based on a score with the highest weight given to peer recommendations, then quality metrics, then patient experience followed by PROM.
