Sun Life releases pharmacy app

Sun Life has released a new app, Lumino Health Pharmacy, that will be able to replace or supplement a traditional brick-and-mortar pharmacy. The app allows people to talk to a pharmacist by phone or live chat, have medications delivered to their homes, get personalized pre-packaged medications, manage refills and track their medication usage. It also allows patients to upload a photo of their prescriptions and sends reminders to take medications to users’ phones. It’s free to use, though there is a $10.97 dispensing fee. It was made in partnership with Pillway, a digital pharmacy. “With Lumino Health Pharmacy, we’re revolutionizing the way people access and manage their medications, making it quick and easy,” Lak Gill, CEO of Pillway, said in a press release. “By leveraging technology, we’re modernizing the pharmacy experience, and we're thrilled to partner with Sun Life to serve even more Canadians.” Read: Rise People partners with online pharmacy Pocketpills Half of people who are prescribed maintenance medications for chronic conditions don't take them correctly, Sun Life said. “Health is a top concern for Canadians and for those taking medications daily, it shouldn't be complicated. Lumino Health Pharmacy makes it effortless for our clients to take charge of their health,” Dave Jones, president of Sun Life Health. “Whether our clients are juggling the demands of a young family, taking care of elderly parents or working long hours—we want to make it easier to access the care they need so they can live healthier lives.” The app will roll out to some customers this summer, and all Sun Life group benefits clients by the end of the year. SunLife’s Lumino Health launched in 2018, and includes listings for 150,000 healthcare providers, along with 10 million ratings. It also has a virtual care app that connects people with doctors, nurses, mental health professionals and other professionals, such as nutritionists, for a fee.
