Those yearning to become a physician in Canada now have a one-stop resource to learn how to achieve that goal. The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) completed the rollout of their MEDPREPP website that outlines the path to become a doctor.

MEDPREPP stands for Academic Medicine Preparation and Pathways. The website includes tools, guidance and resources to help people navigate all the stages of medical education in Canada, from high school to continuing medical education.

It combines some existing programs and resources, including the AFMC student portal, CANPREPP (about residency preparation) and Future MD Canada. The new site should provide a more streamlined view of the academic medical journey.

Resources include links to admissions programs of Canadian medical schools, financial planning advice and MMCQE practice questions.

“Every learner who turns away from medicine because the path feels out of reach is a loss for the profession and for the communities they may one day serve,” said Constance LeBlanc, AFMC President and CEO in a press release. “MEDPREPP is part of our commitment to reducing barriers and helping learners access the support they need at every stage of their journey.”

The CMA Foundation provided funding for the website.

It can be reached at medprepp.ca
