PAS conference a draw for pharmacy technicians

With pharmacy technicians invited as of May 1 to become full members of the Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan (PAS), they will receive member discounts to attend the 2024 Conference, to be held September 14-15 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre in Regina.While the full agenda of educational sessions and social/networking events has yet to be released, PAS has announced the keynote speakers.Cadmus Delorme, former Chief of Cowessess First Nation in Southern Saskatchewan, is the CEO and founder of OneHoop, a groundbreaking consulting firm that proudly embraces its Indigenous heritage. Under Delorme’s leadership, Cowessess First Nation prioritized economic self-sustainability and progressed renewable energy, agriculture, and land use efficiency initiatives to create current and future business opportunities.Read: Deadline nears to apply for Indigenous Pharmacy ScholarshipIn 2021, Delorme faced one of his hardest moments as Chief when the Saulteaux and Cree First Nation made international headlines with the discovery of potentially 751 unmarked graves near the former Marieval Indian Residential School. Shortly after, Cowessess made headlines again as the first First Nations community to sign an agreement with Ottawa that returns jurisdiction over children in care to the community. Federal legislation overhauling Indigenous child welfare was passed in 2019 and came into force last year. Kaleb Dahlgren, an inspiring community leader and mental health advocate, is a survivor of the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus accident. Dahlgren’s hockey career was threatened before it even started with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes when he was four years old, but he proved his doctors and coaches wrong by going on to play hockey at an elite level. Once he recovered from the accident, Dahlgren returned to the ice to play for York University’s varsity hockey team. While at York, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree as Valedictorian, Magna Cum Laude, and Varsity Athletics Male Graduate of the Year in April 2021. Currently, he is pursuing his dream of becoming a chiropractor at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.Read: Passion for the professionDahlgren is the National Ambassador for two non-profit organizations, and the founder of his own, Dahlgren’s Diabeauties—a mentorship program developed to help connect children with Type 1 diabetes to role models who can help provide guidance and support. He is also the author of Crossroads, his debut memoir. Shyla Dawn, a Dakota woman from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, is a remarkable yoga instructor and mental health advocate. She has embarked on a transformative journey of self-discovery, reclaiming her Indigenous roots and identity. Raised in Regina, she found the missing piece to her puzzle in 2018 when she connected with her birth father, marking the beginning of her healing and cultural reclamation.In 2019, Dawn earned her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification in Regina, which marked the inception of her mission to integrate the healing practice of yoga into her life and community.
