Part 1: Wrapping up this season of the Entrepreneur Leaders in Pharmacy series

As we wrap up this season of the Entrepreneur Leaders in Pharmacy series, it's evident that the landscape of pharmacy entrepreneurship is as dynamic as it is innovative. Throughout the season, we've explored the journeys of various trailblazers in the profession who have not only reshaped the traditional understanding of entrepreneurship in pharmacy, but have also pioneered new avenues and carved new paths for others to follow. Throughout the season, 57 leaders were featured from across various provinces in Canada, and globally from Australia, Italy, Spain, South Africa and the United States. Their stories demonstrated the various opportunities available for entrepreneurship in pharmacy which extend far beyond the counter and into the realms of business development, innovation and technology integration. As this season concludes, we will be doing a special “2 parts” recap to revisit the exceptional leaders featured throughout the series highlighting a memorable quote from their article, and will also provide a reminder of the reading habits and educational tools used by those leaders who opted to share their favourite books and resources in their interview.Week 31 - Jena Quinn: "Just take the plunge."Rocket fuelThe magic of thinking bigBuilt to sell Sell or be soldWeek 32 - Kyle Boggio: "I don’t like to rest on 'good enough'.”If you own a business and want to learn how to grow and scale, anything from Gino Wickman’s “Traction” series is great. It establishes the “Entrepreneurial Operating System” and it is a great way to learn to delegate and elevate your operation. “Endurance” is the story of Ernest Shackleton’s tumultuous voyage to Antarctica. It is a lesson in resilience and perseverance. Excellent read for anyone who leads a team of people. “Screw It Let’s Do It” by Richard Branson is the story of how Virgin went from a record label to the lifestyle brand it grew into. Richard Branson gives a master class in how to take his ADHD diagnosis and leverage all of its pain points and strengths to be an exceptional entrepreneur. One of those was “Crucial Conversations” and the other was "Getting More.” No matter what you do in entrepreneurship, I believe one must be able to sell their vision and communicate effectively. One of the areas though that I tend to gravitate to more than book over the last number of years is Ted Talks. Here are a few of my favourite impactful ones but I would recommend that you subscribe and receive regular updates of the new talks: “ How Great Leaders Inspire Action” by Simon Sinek, “Leading with Lollipops” by Drew Dudley, “ The Power of Vulnerability” by Brene Brown, “ The Puzzle of Motivation” by Dan Pink, “ Do What You Love (No Excuses!) by Gary Vaynerchuk, “8 Secrets of Success” by Richard St. John, “ The Power of Believing That You Can Improve” by Carol Dweck. These talks cover a range of topics relevant to entrepreneurship, including leadership, motivation, creativity, pitching, personal development and much more.Week 45 - Jesse McCullough: ‘Seeing people step into their potential is exciting’Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. The classic. There is so much wisdom in this book about to take an idea and turn it into a business.Business Made Simple by Donald Miller. Donald helps simplify so many considerations about running a business. It is one thing to have a great idea, but you need some practical frameworks to make it go.Tax Free Wealth by Tom Wheelwright. One of the hurdles I faced in starting at business was how to structure things properly. This book radically impacted my perspectives on how to do just that. Week 46 - Bobby Rai: ‘For me, success transcends conventional metrics’Week 47 - Faddy Morgan: ‘Be passionate about making a difference.’"The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries: This book is essential for anyone in the entrepreneurial space."Good to Great" by Jim Collins: A compelling read for leaders in any field, this book provides insights into what elevates organizations from mediocrity to excellence.Week 48 - Andrew Hanna: ‘I love the adrenaline rush of something new.’43 Lessons for Business & Life by Warren Buffett. The intelligent Investor by Warren Buffett.Week 49 - Andrea Edginton: ‘I have consistently married research and real-world application.’MAPflow Inc. has been fortunate to be part of the competitive Accelerator Centre Studio business incubator and that’s been so helpful. They provide a network of mentors who can guide us on a wide range of business issues. Week 50 - George Edwards: ‘Be an agent of change!’Week 51 - Rami Safi: 'No matter how much AI progresses, human connection is necessary.'Coursera, as well as podcasts, and above all, through learning from every person I can.Week 52 - Sony Poulose: ‘It fills me with immense joy when we are able to help our patients in their times of need.’Week 53 - Brian Dawson: ‘I love creating and building.’Week 54 - Sean Simpson: ‘Entrepreneurship is as much about evolving as it is about creating.’I would highly recommend Traction and Get a Grip by Gino Wickman. They are both part of the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) set of tools.Good to Great by Jim Collins is another favourite. For those who like podcasts, check out Founders.Week 55 - Jim Danahy: ‘Entrepreneurship wasn’t even on my radar.’The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber – Every AdhereRx client gets a copy to learn the difference between working IN our businesses, which is self-employment, and ON our businesses, which is entrepreneurship. Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson MD – A guide to understand change and how to bring people with you. The Innovator’s Prescription by Clayton Christensen – another seminal read for innovators in the healthcare sector. Health For All, Dr. Jane PhilpottWeek 56 - Munir Dharamshi: ‘Being an entrepreneur is in my DNA.’I find books like “The Wealthy Barber” and other books that force you to look inwards at how and why you do things and force you to consider other perspectives helpful.Week 57 - Gaspare Mura: ‘Curiosity and the constant pursuit of knowledge have always been my primary motivators.’Mindset" by Carol Dweck – This book introduces the transformative concept of "yet" in learning, which is crucial for entrepreneurial growth. It's a concept so powerful that it ought to be taught in schools.Poor Charlie's Almanack" by Charles T. Munger – If you're going to read one book this year, make it this one. It's an invaluable guide to clear thinking and decision-making.Farnham Street Blog – This resource deeply resonates with me because it focuses on learning and reading – what I consider to be our human superpower
