OntarioMD launches new virtual-care security and privacy training module
OntarioMD is launching an online Virtual Care Privacy & Security Training Module for physicians, clinicians and support staff in the province.
The demand for guidance on these issues has risen sharply with the changes physicians have needed to make to their practices during the pandemic, prompting OMA and the Ontario Medical Association to develop the training course.
“The Privacy & Security Virtual Care Training Module addresses an important need for physician practices during a critical period in care delivery,” said Ariane Siegel, general counsel and chief privacy officer at OMD, in a press release. “Physicians need practical guidance on their regulatory obligations and how to select and use virtual care tools that best support their patients and their workflow. Training and best practices can help keep any data collected or exchanged during virtual visits private and secure.”
The virtual-specific training builds on the existing OMD Privacy & Security Training Module. Currently the new model is only available in English with the French version forthcoming in the next few weeks.
