Ontario pharmacist aims to launch first Metaverse pharmacy

Ontario pharmacy manager and entrepreneur Noman Qureshi has entered into an agreement with Metaverse Advisory Group—a virtual real estate company that develops and manages properties in block chain-based metaverses—to launch the very first metaverse pharmacy in Decentraland. This digital space allows users to buy and sell properties in what is hoped to become a robust virtual world in the future. The advisory group will provide Quershi’s Pharmacy Group with an online, AI-enabled, e-commerce pharmaceutical platform operable in the metaverse. The technology is expected to enable virtual pharmacy patrons to have one-on-one consultations with pharmacists while being able to track their medications online. The Pharmacy Group also expects to offer patients the chance to set up automatic refill reminders for prescriptions that will be shipped directly to their home and ultimately improving medication adherence. "As the digital world evolves, virtual and metaverse-based healthcare services will become increasingly more important," said Noman Qureshi in a press release. "Being a pharmacist for over 15 years, I understand the importance of being able to comfort and educate patients on their medications personally. The pharmacist's role is evolving across the world, and we see the younger patients opting for an online consultation instead of visiting us in person." This metaverse pharmacy is expected to launch on the ground floor of the iMining Towers in Decentraland. Metaverse Advisory Group is a subsidiary of iMining Technologies Inc. In the U.S., CVS Health in the first pharmacy to file for a trademark to be able to sell goods and services in the metaverse. In filling, CVS says it aims to establish an online store with downloadable virtual goods, ranging from beauty and personal care products to prescription drugs.
