Docs vs. med students charity hockey game to fund cancer research coming up March 7
Once again this year, Queen’s University medical students and local physicians from Kingston, Ont. are back on the ice, raising funds alongside the Canadian Cancer Society.
This community game and fundraiser is taking place this Saturday March 7. The puck first dropped in 2023, spurred on by Queen’s medical student and former WHL player Dr. Geordie Maguire diagnosis of a malignant brain tumour while he was still in medical school.
Now equipped with his MD, Dr. Maguire will be joining the physicians’ team as he is now completing his family medicine residency at the University of Toronto.
Tickets to upcoming game at the Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, Ont. are still available—with an accompanying silent auction already underway. Those wishing to support the fundraiser directly can get more info here.
Since its inception, the annual event has raised more than $300,000.
